The G7 Ise-Shima Summit and Security Operations
The 42nd G7 Ise-Shima Summit was held on May 26–27, 2016. Police personnel from prefectural police organizations across Japan were deployed to support security operations for visiting national leaders. Security arrangements extended beyond the main summit venue to airports and other facilities used by the leaders.
Our Personal Energy BMS576 off-grid power system was used for a security radio charging station in the bonded area of Chubu Centrair International Airport, where chartered aircraft carrying national leaders were parked. The adoption was announced by our company on May 20, 2016.
Power Supply Constraints in the Bonded Area
Utility power was not available for the security equipment in the bonded area where the chartered aircraft were parked. Nevertheless, security radios required a reliable means of recharging their batteries to support continued operation.
Using a temporary engine generator would have introduced considerations such as fuel delivery, refueling and exhaust emissions. An independent power system combining solar generation and battery storage was therefore adopted.
Security Radio Charging Station
The electrical load in this application consisted of charging equipment for radios used during security operations. A dedicated charging station was established to supply electricity for portable communication equipment in an area without utility power.

Solar Photovoltaic Generation and Personal Energy BMS576
To charge security radios where utility electricity was unavailable, solar photovoltaic generation was combined with the Personal Energy BMS576 independent power system. Solar generation supplied energy to the battery system while electricity was provided to the radio charging equipment.

This configuration did not require a utility power connection at the charging station. Unlike an engine generator, it did not depend on fuel replenishment or produce engine exhaust during normal operation. These characteristics were particularly relevant to a security installation with restrictions on equipment placement.

Implementation of Independent Power
Instead of bringing an engine generator into an area without an available power supply, a charging station powered by solar generation and battery storage was established. This case demonstrates the adoption of an independent power system for the specific task of supplying communication equipment during international summit security operations in 2016.
Another application of independent power is documented in our Tanabe Clinic off-grid power case study . There, an independent power system supports daily clinical operations, with remote monitoring maintained by our company for more than ten years.
