Kei Communication Technology Inc. began by developing communications equipment for requirements that available products could not meet. We now design, build, and operate IEEE 802 networks, our own OUI and SNMP monitoring technology, smart meters, power-quality systems, UPS architectures, and Personal Energy® off-grid power as one continuous engineering discipline.

History
Kei Communication Technology began with embedded communications and network engineering, then extended the same technical lineage into device identity, SNMP monitoring, smart meters, power quality, off-grid power, portable UPS systems, and redundant power architectures for marine, public-safety, medical, and social-welfare facilities. Communications and power are connected by one objective: maintaining continuous operation throughout the system lifecycle.
From early communications to established off-grid technology
1984
The Internet arrived in Japan and JUNET began operation, marking the early stage of communication infrastructure technology.
1995
The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake disrupted communications, electricity, water, and transportation. This experience became the origin of the company’s “made in KOBE” philosophy and its commitment to disaster-resilient technology.
2000
Kei Communication Technology was established as a limited company and began developing embedded communications, home controllers, and network technology for requirements that available products could not meet.
2003
Designed, installed, and operated an end-to-end platform for the iEARN International Conference, integrating FSO, IEEE 802.11, Ethernet, IP, video streaming, remote participation, monitoring, and power.
2006
Reorganized as a joint-stock company. Selected or certified by programs including MIC u-Japan Best Practices, Hyogo New Industry Creation Support Project, and the KOBE Dream Catch Project.
2007
Certified under the Hyogo Prefecture New Product Procurement Program and recognized by the Hyogo Science and Technology Association.
2011
Expanded into smart meters and the Personal Energy off-grid power system. A patent was registered for technology that ensures the originality of measurement data.
2014
Personal Energy was adopted for infrastructure use at the Naruto Bridge.
2016
Personal Energy 576 was adopted as a permanent security power source for the Ise-Shima Summit. The Personal Energy Hyogo Factory was opened, and the company’s off-grid technology was certified as an outstanding technology from Kobe.
2017
Developed a container-module off-grid power station.
2019
Moved the registered head office to 8-2 Shinko-cho, Chuo-ku, Kobe. Launched ECO ONE SOLAR, an off-grid hybrid hot-water system.
Deployments and product expansion since 2020
2020
Personal Energy Jizai, an off-grid power system, was adopted for a digital disaster-prevention administrative radio station in Itsuki Village, Kuma District, Kumamoto Prefecture. During the prolonged power outage caused by the July 2020 heavy rain disaster, it supported continuous operation of the radio station. View case study

Started off-grid operation systems for near-orbit satellite communications, expanding portable power systems that can operate satellite links such as Starlink during outages, disasters, or communication disruptions.
2024
The company’s smart meter was adopted for CO2 emissions management on one of Japan’s largest sand compaction pile vessels. View smart meter

A redundant power system for medical and social-welfare facilities was adopted as an eligible product under a Tokyo Metropolitan Government program.
